When Moon River Meet The Fish

What do you think of when someone asks you what your favorite song is? What is a favorite song? I usually think - well, the obvious. It's a song you can't get enough, that you never get tired of no matter how many times it has been repeated. But I've just realized, only a second ago - that's a favorite song is so much more than a song to enjoy. The first time I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's, Audrey sits upon that windowsill with her guitar, her voice oh so delicate and beautiful adjoined with that unforgettable melody... I immediately fell in love. Who didn't? The particular reason Moon River means so much to me is not its musical perfection, but how it makes me feel when I listen to it. I never realized it until now, but it puts me at peace. And not just any version of Moon River. Not Sinatra's, not even Mancini's instrumental. Just Audrey's version. I'd have a crummy day... in Holly Golightly's words - "The Mean Reds" ... and I'd put on Moon River and calm down. It's truly amazing. Less than two minutes with surpassing elegance.

  2. I agree with the post with the many criteria for choosing a favorite song.

Different songs mean different things to different situations to different people.

Sorry just had to say that :p

Moon River is quite an interesting choice. A romantic at heart, I see.

    My .02
