Dominican Republic
This wonderfully under-visited island is especially cheap to fly to from Europe and the US during winter months. The island boasts every possible climate for the spontaneous traveller so if you're feeling like hiking in the rainforest or prefer to lay on the beach, the Dominican Republic has something for you. The food is influenced from all the region’s varied cultures, mostly with a Cuban or Spanish flare. There are plenty of all-inclusive resorts if you prefer to pay once. Otherwise, plenty of budget travel options from B & B's to hostel-style accommodation await.

Madeira
This Atlantic isle has so much to offer from luxury hotels to stylish Quinta’s. You will definitely enjoy every minute spent here. Madeira boasts steep cobbled streets, elegant colonial architecture, atmospheric wine lodges, enticing walking trails, lush green valleys as well as beautiful pebble and sand beaches. While here, you can enjoy boat and superb fishing trips and sunbathing by the beaches among other things. You can be sure to find an accommodation facility as well as meals  that fit into your budget. Moreover, most of the facilities do not require any admission fee.

Goa, India
Goa records temperatures of about 32 degrees during winter, and that makes it a perfect place to spend your winter holidays. Goa offers soft sandy beaches where you can enjoy the sun. Apart from laying on those stunning beaches, you can also enjoy a local cuisine that is famous for its spices. Goa is also home to a variety of water sports and diving activities. Most importantly, these will not cost you much so you can enjoy your holiday on budget.

Algarve, Portugal
This area is best known for golden beaches, fantastic rugged scenery and wonderful sunshine. You can try a host of activities that include scuba diving, golfing at the world class golf courses. Algarve is also great for water sporting activities. Moreover, there are countless cafes, bars, and restaurants that you can choose from, most of which are very affordable.

Gambia
Gambia records temperatures of 30 degrees during winter so you are practically guaranteed a great time on the beaches. You can also take a walk to the atmospheric street markets as well as experience exotic wildlife from crocodiles to hippos among other animals. If you love birds then you can also be sure of seeing the over 550 species!

Canary Islands
Select any of the four islands, all of which boast buzzing resorts at a pocket friendly cost. The islands include Fuerteventura, which promises tranquility as well as white sandy beaches. Or you could try Gran Canaria and explore its Sahara-style sand dunes or water sports in Puerto. Lanzarote has the Timanfaya National Park, whereas Tenerife is famed for Mount Teide, a volcano that dominates the entire island. No matter what island you do choose, they all have plenty of sunshine all year round.

Christmas in Vegas

My Las Vegas Christmas a while ago.... I thought I wouldn't have my perfect Christmas. But I did. This desert city defied the odds and magically transformed the Strip into a winter wonderland.

Christmas in Las Vegas is like walking through the snowy paradise, You’ll find yourself surrounded by different paths that lead you to different holiday attractions, where a lavishly decorated 45-foot-tall Christmas tree awaits. It’s a buzz of activity around the impressive tree – families excitedly taking photos with their loved ones, children gazing in speechless wonder and lovers taking in the delightful moment in each other’s arms.

Everyone thought traveling to Las Vegas would break the bank O.o" Luckily I'm not a gambler myself, I guess that's explain a lot. Thanks to Trip Advisor, I only spent approximate $500 for the RT ticket from New York City and 4 nights of hotel. Weekends usually equal to higher cost, I tend to avoid weekends traveling during the holiday season. :) Generally speaking, you’ll find cheaper room rates on stays occurring between Mondays and Thursdays. Weekend pricing, particularly for Fridays and Saturdays, is going to be the most expensive.

This is probably my 2rd or 3rd time traveled to Las Vegas, but every time when I come to Vegas, I would head over to the Bellagio Fountains for a grand symphony of music, lights and merriment. Especially during the holiday season, the fountains dance to holiday songs such as “Carol of the Bells,” “Santa Baby” and “Jingle Bells,” and everyone will be filled with a good dose of holiday cheer.

Sightseeing in Las Vegas is pretty awesome, although I am from New York City, seeing all cartoon characters walking around in the city is such a common thing, BUT I still went to check out the costumed street performers on the Las Vegas Boulevard, course I might find Angels, Eves, Santa and even Woody from Toy Story dressed in Christmas clothes!

So, if you’re looking for a place to spend Christmas and have a jolly good time, put Las Vegas on your list of destinations to consider. Oh, and did I mention the room rates during winter are also some of the lowest of the year?!

What would you do if you have a snow day?

What would you do if you have a snow day? Were you the kind of kid who:

1. ... would hide behind the pillars at the entrances to Central Park and pelt expensive cars with snowballs as they drove by?
2. ... make snow angels in the normally untouchably dangerous turf in Tompkins Square Park?
3. ... stick your tongue to icicles hanging off the Manhattan Bridge overpass?
4. ... make yellow snow on the pristine, untouched stretch of grass in the middle of Park Avenue?
5. ... watch other kids playing through the glass door, hiding from the weather with some hot chocolate and the homeless guy in your entryway?
Wow. Translating our suburban snow fantasies into city life was even grimmer than we thought.

Tell me your story, my friend.

Footprints of John Lennon in Upper West Side

Upper West Side of Manhattan, Often remembered nowadays as the location of the murder of Former Beatles member, John Lennon. Now  I'm walking down the road of John Lenno and Yuko Ono once had passed ... Feeling blue ...

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try

No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one I
hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one

O Jingle Bell .... Last Year Christmas Party

I'm a New York city apartment dweller, so I've always known the challenges of small-space living. One of those challenges has always been the placement (and the storage) of Christmas decorations.

Last year I set up a new 7.5 ft tree by the living room window, one that required re-arranging the work desk and guinea pig cages, but that ultimately made the apt more spacious and enjoyable for part of my holiday celebration.

The annual Christmas party from last year was a big yeah! The food, the gift exchange, the drinks, the games, the movie and Pictionary, it was a fun night!
